Garden survival after 40 degrees

I have been out to survey the garden.  I did water a lot on Monday, Tuesday and again this morning so that the plants would cope with the high temperatures yesterday.  Of course I really don't spend that much time and water on the garden but I was hoping for no losses.

Here is the worse of the group

Viburnum plicatum has yet to flower, was transferred about a year and a half ago. Fingers crossed.

Do these beans look chomped by a rat???

Theses beans are just holding in but it not far down to a rock ledge

I moved the Rhubarb out of the sun but the heat still seems to have affected them

The raspberries have been released from the bird net but I think they will survive
How are your gardens holding up?

    We've had a couple of 40 plus days and my garden has done remarkably well - I little bit of wilting on the new growth of a couple of tomatoes and thats about it. My next door neighbours trees provide afternoon shade and I think that helps greatly.

    Today is back in the 30s. With the exception of yesterday (which was a lovely 26) each day starting with Boxing Day has been in the 30s or low 40s. The garden is largely stuffed. Greenskin is remarkably resilient, cucumbers and pumpkins are holding on as are eggplants and chillies. Tomatoes, beans, parsley and lettuce - gone. The mulch is currently saving the rocket and radish - just. I just dont have enough shade or water or mulch. Oh well, I think this is a year out of the ordinary! The way the forecast is looking we might have to leave the property again tomorrow especially if the existing fires flare up again.

      oh i do feel terribly sorry for your garden but these do seem extreme temperatures, lets hope the rain can come and help a whole pile of people and places soon

    Hope your plants hold up. Most of my garden is OK, some windburn for the past week but the ornamentals will recover. Not sure about the veggies, and just about all the ground cherries have been windburned to oblivion!
